REASON A CHILD SMILE TODAY:DONATE A SCHOOL UNIFORM TODAY

Our education program initiatives towards provision of school uniform to orphans /vulnerable children within five communities in Kabba.

It isn’t hard to tell which the school children are they are in their school uniforms and each school has its own colours. There are gold sweaters with purple pants or skirts. There are pink vests with gray pants. There is turquoise and green and red and blue and yellow, very colourful and distinct.

As you look closely at the uniforms you see sweaters that are two sizes too big. There are tattered knickers that are a few inches too short, there are shirts with various hand sewed patches, tattered dress uniforms. But the important thing is that these are uniforms and whatever the condition, shape or size, they are a valued as a sign of school attendance.

The Government has eradicated school fees in local primary schools but an increasing share of the costs of schooling come in the form of school materials and opportunity costs. We evaluate the impact of an educational intervention in which we find that giving a school uniform reduces school absenteeism by 44% for the average student, and 62% for students who did not previously own a uniform. This project also A BACK TO SCHOOL INTERVENTION PROGRAM.

Some states in Nigeria have also eliminated school fees, but other significant costs remain, including the cost of providing a school uniform for a child. Government and non-government organization are intervening in many ways to encourage children to attend school, including providing free uniform, providing meals or medications, increase the benefits of schooling, uniform provision and elimination of school fees reduced the cash outlay required.

We find strong positive impacts of receiving a school uniform on student school participation. Giving a uniform reduces school absenteeism. The school uniforms will help the children make the most of their study for their better future

In addition to helping the children, the donation also will have significant benefit for the tailors within the locality in sewing the school uniforms, this will give them a valuable source of income.

I think a uniform gives the student a sense of pride and identity also a social equality in the school while fostering discipline. Some of these children are ashamed and refused to attend school because of their tattered or worn out school uniform.
